Alyssa- Elementary Education

Elementary Education

Background
Hi! My name is Alyssa. I graduated from the University of Northwestern—St Paul with my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and a music minor. I became licensed to teach Kindergarten through 6th grade. In the following years, I received my Masters of Education in Literacy through the University of Minnesota as well as became licensed to teach Reading/Literacy for Kindergarten through 12th grade. I also have training in the Orton-Gillingham and SIPPS curriculum.

I have taught in the elementary classroom for the last 5 years. Currently, I am working on my PhD in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) through the University of Minnesota..

Free Time
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and dog (his name is Rusty). I like to make music on my piano, swing dance, hike, play games, work on puzzles, rock climb, and so much more. There is always something new to learn and explore!

Goals
Personally, I am thrilled to be working through my PhD, and I would love to teach in a collegiate setting. Professionally, I use my students interests combined with research-based instructional methods to make learning fun for the students. My goal is to give your child tools such that they become life-long learners!
