Hannah: Chemistry

AP/IB Chemistry & Organic Chemistry Tutor

Background
Hi! I completed my undergraduate degree in chemistry at the College of Saint Benedict in 2018. I then went to the University of Minnesota where I completed my PhD in organic chemistry. Currently, I am enrolled in a Master’s of Education and Initial Licensure program at the University of Minnesota. Through this program, I will obtain my teaching license in May 2024 and will complete my Master’s degree in education shortly after.

Throughout my undergraduate and graduate chemistry education, I have had the opportunity to tutor many undergraduate students. In my current school program, I am getting the opportunity to teach and work with high schoolers.

Free Time
In my free time I love to hang out with my family- particularly, my 3 nieces and 1 nephew. They bring me endless joy. I also like to read bad romance novels, watch reality TV, kickbox, jog (this is a love/hate relationship), and play volleyball. Additionally, I am on a mission to find the best street tacos in the Twin Cities… suggestions are welcome.

Goals
My current goal is to finish my teaching license program and get a job teaching high school chemistry. I also would like to spend my summers teaching organic chemistry at a community college. Although my full-time job will be teaching a classroom full of students, I really enjoy working with students one-on-one and honing my teaching skills by adapting to each student’s needs.
