Background
I grew up in the suburbs of New Haven, Connecticut and completed my undergraduate studies in English at Yale University. After a few years working in publishing, I went on to earn a master’s degree in journalism at Syracuse University. I worked in arts nonprofit communications for several years in San Francisco before getting my teaching license.

I have been teaching for 10 years, and have taught grades 7-12, and disciplines including English, journalism, filmmaking, and culinary arts.

Free Time
Among other things, I like to hike in state parks with my dog Bismarck, tinker with recipes to enter into the Strib holiday cookie contest, and re-watch episodes of Lost, Star Trek TNG, and Project Runway.

Goals
I get a lot of fulfillment out of working with young people to grow and develop as readers, writers, and people. I have had the pleasure of seeing students engage and embrace texts, ideas, and possibilities for their future, and I hope to continue working with young people in a variety of ways over the course of my career.
