Hi, my name is Niki and I use she/her pronouns. I am originally from Ames, Iowa but have lived in Minneapolis since 2013 when I moved here for college. I received my degree in Nutrition in 2017 from the University of Minnesota and then worked in the food industry working with product developers and creating nutrition labeling.
Later, I managed a local bakery and café for about three years until I decided to go back to the University of Minnesota to get my M. Ed and become a life science teacher.
In my free time, I love to spend time with friends, go on hikes, bike, read, bake, and explore the different coffee shops in the Twin Cities. I recently got a cat named Arlo, so I have been enjoying the colder weather with him and spending lots of time cuddling!
I feel that many students believe science just isn’t their subject, but I believe that science is fun and interesting once you overcome the daunting and complicated aspects of it! I hope to be able to encourage students and help them see that they are capable of learning tough concepts and having fun while doing it.
